Bay Area Libraries Offer Free Museum Tickets

There’s a little secret in the Bay Area that locals file in the same category as tool lending libraries, the bocce ball court in Fort Mason, and the cheap Sunday brunch at the Thai temple in Berkeley. Free Museum Tickets. At the library!

San Francisco Public Library’s Family Pass offers members free tickets to Angel Island State Park, Alcatraz, Aquarium of the Bay, California Academy of Sciences, the de Young Museum, Legion of Honor, SF Zoo, and more. Additional attractions outside of San Francisco include Burlingame’s Pez Museum, Lawrence Hall of Science, Oakland Zoo and the list goes on. The new Exploratorium will be included by the end of summer.

Not to be outdone, Oakland Public Library (theirs includes California Shakespeare Festival tickets!), San Mateo and South San Francisco Library also have free ticket programs.

Any readers know of other libraries offering a similar service? Any tips for readers?
